Finally...

...I have some class dates for you patient people. After disappearing from the public view for an overly LONG break I am ready to get back into the world of soaping.

So without further ado, here are the dates for soaping classes for the next couple of months.

As usual, the classes are filled on a first come first serve basis, so if you'd like to attend a specific class date be sure to sign up as soon as you can...
Saturday, May 5 - Hillsboro, OR
Saturday, May 26 - Hillsboro, OR
Saturday, June 9 - Hillsboro, OR

Classes run from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Both the Hot and Cold Process will be learned during the 3 hour class. Prices for 2012 classes are: $70.00 a person, $10.00 additional for child or relative to attend with a full price student.

Coming Soon...

After an extended working vacation I'm back into the world of blogging. Work is underway to upgrade all of Clean Hands Soap's web presence as well as our interaction with all of you, our general public. In this coming year look for:

1. More classes in more locations - We'll be expanding our class schedule so if you are interested in hosting a class get in touch with us soon to get your location on the list.

2. More Workshops & Soapmaking Jamborees - When our fall soapmaking Jamboree filled up in 3 hours we realized that you class alumni would just love to get together and make soap. So we'll be expanding on that theme this year. Also, look for the option to host a Soap Making demonstration in your home to your friends. This will be a cheaper way to get your friends excited and involved in Soap. Look for upcoming details in our newsletter.

3. And last but not least - We are looking forward to introducing you to a subscription based website with video, articles and support as you make your own soap. We'll be here to answer questions, solve problems and help make your soap making endeavors a success!

Silverton Soap Class

We had a fabulous group of ladies (and one brave gentleman) attend our soap class in Silverton two weeks ago. The evening progressed well with luxurious soaps being created on every inch of available table space.

It was one of my favorite classes this year for two reasons:

1. I didn't know anybody at the class. (I enjoy making new friends!).
2. No one at the class had ever made soap before!

It was exceedingly enjoyable to watch the process as 13+ people created something that they had never made before. It was also the first time I taught Milk Soap making at a class. Everything went incredibly smoothly! I look forward to incorporating that process into all of my future classes.

Well, the October 8th class in McMinnville is now officially closed for registration, but we still have a few spots left at the October 22nd class in Boring and the November 5th class in Hillsboro.

Stirring the soap to trace took a while with only 8 stick blenders!

After that I'll be taking a Christmas break...and working on an exciting new branch of Clean Hands Soap which I hope to tell you about very soon!

Thank you to all the wonderful people who participated in the soap class last Saturday! I had a great time getting to meet some of you for the first time and introducing you to the world of soap making. Thank you for making the class a great success!

I hope that you've been enjoying the dog days of August! I've been waiting for warm weather all year. Just been lovin' the heat.

Success!

We just finished a very successful 2 day exhibition at the OCEAN Homeschool Conference in Portland. It was our first public show and I was very pleased with the response. It seems that people everywhere are interested in reviving the old-fashioned art of soap making and they're just looking for someone to get them started.

We had fun! It was great to see the children run past the toy booth that was across the aisle from ours to make a soap ball out of shredded soap. While the kids played we talked to the parents about our mission to spread the word about our soap classes. As an added bonus we handed out free mini samples of our soap with a $5.00 coupon for future purchases.

We did a surprise drawing for the winner of a 2 pound loaf of luxury Shea Butter soap. I was happy to award the first place prize to: Maria Mendoza from way out in Hermiston.

All in all it was a fun event! And, it was good to see some of you there!

As a result of the show, I'll be hosting a few more classes this fall. I'll keep you posted as to the new dates. Thank you!

What am I looking forward to this year? Teaching more classes, getting to meet new people, and inspiring you to create your own naturally luxurious handmade soap!

It's been great to hear that a lot of you have gone on to create your own soap at home. My goal is to equip you with the knowledge and confidence you need to do it yourself. So, it's great to know that many of you are doing exactly that!

I will be opening registration for upcoming classes this year. There will be a registration tab on my website by the end of this week - I'll let you know when you can send your friends on over there to sign up.

Christmas is just around the corner and anyone with an ounce of crafting in their blood is busy making special handmade gifts for loved ones and friends! I am certainly no exception. My days have been filled with soap and soap related projects. I've been having fun creating some special order batches for customers. I especially enjoyed the fact that most of the orders only used natural scents and additives. See some of the gorgeous soap below.
